Hattie Belle Suter January 17, 1930 - November 9, 2017
Hattie Belle Suter, 87, of Palisade, CO went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Hattie Belle was born January 17, 1930, to Floy and Opal Kelley in Marshall, Arkansas. Her family moved to Oklahoma in 1935. She attended school in Carnegie, OK, where she met the love of her life, Jack Suter. Jack and Hattie were married in 1949, in Texas. They moved to Climax, CO in 1953, for work. In 1959, they were able to make their dream of running a peach orchard come true. They bought a peach orchard in Palisade and lived there until Jack’s passing in 2013. Hattie was a homemaker and helped run the family peach orchard. In 1967, she started working as a secretary at the Grand Junction Regional Center. She retired in 1987, and continued to help on the peach farm. Together, Jack and Hattie had seven children. Hattie enjoyed hosting family meals on holidays and fish fries in the summer months. One of her passions was spending time with family and playing games. She enjoyed spending time in Oklahoma visiting family and friends, and having frequent visitors at her winter home in Apache Junction, AZ. She also enjoyed playing bridge and quilting. She is survived by her six children, Saundra (Roy); Brad (Cyndi); Rhonda (Greg); Bruce (Julie), Deanne (Kenny), and Brian (Yvonne); 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren, and 26 step-great-grandchildren. She was very proud of her family and always told everyone she had 39 in her immediate family. Her parents; son, Blake, and her loving husband, Jack, preceded her in death. Memorial services will be held Friday, November 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to HopeWest Hospice of Western Colorado.
