Lois Feil November 11, 1927 - January 1, 2018
Lois Hagener Feil, a long time Grand Junction resident, passed away at Mesa Manor on January 1, 2018. Lois was born in Delta, CO November 11, 1927, where she grew up with her brother, Lou, and had many adventures during her childhood. Lois graduated from Delta High School and attended Denver University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She worked in Denver for a short period of time, taught school in Cedaredge, CO and then moved to Grand Junction with her mother and started her banking career. Lois worked for US Bank in downtown Grand Junction, then went to work for Bank of Orchard Mesa for many years and finally retired from Bank of Colorado. Even after retirement, she continued to support her customers and friends with their estates and escrow. Lois had the opportunity to travel after she retired visiting many areas of the US and had a wonderful trip to the United Kingdom. She also loved her family, especially her grandchildren, babysitting, cheering at their sporting events and concerts and taking them on a trip to Canada with Toni Hagener. She had many friends in the community from her banking career and made many more in her community service and travels. Lois was an avid gardener and had an exceptional flower garden. She spent many hours pulling weeds, turning soil and planting new varieties of flowers and shared her garden with everyone. She would give plant cuttings to anyone that asked and many of her neighbors started their gardening with plants from Lois’s garden. Lois was extremely involved in her community, an Eastern Star member for many years, active in Altrusa in multiple roles, volunteered at the Community Food Bank, the Grand Junction Visitor’scenter and spent time with many other charitable events and community projects. Lois was a woman of great faith and attended First United Methodist Church her entire adult life. She was involved in many circles, study groups and was treasurer for the church for many years. She is preceded in death by both her parents, Louis William Hagener and Ethel May Hagener and her brother Louis W. Hagener. Lois is survived by her son, Mark D. Feil (Dorothy) of Grand Junction, CO, and two grandchildren, Michael Feil and Thomas Feil. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the spring. Lois will be interred at the Delta Cemetery next to her parents. The family wants to thank Mesa Manor for their loving care, Nightingales for their many years of in home care and Hospice for bringing dignity and grace to Lois’s journey. Memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church.
