Robert L. Spindler October 10, 1927 - January 4, 2018
Grand Junction resident, Robert L. Spindler, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at the HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. Robert was 90 years old. Visitation was held Monday, January 8, 2018 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta, Colorado. Robert was born October 10, 1927, to Arthur and Christena H. (Hansen) Spindler in Holyoke, Colorado. He was the eighth out of a family of nine children. He had four brothers and four sisters. After graduating from Phillips County High School in 1945, he was drafted into the U. S. Army to serve in WWII. After he served his country, he continued with his education by receiving his Bachelor’s Degree at Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. He then received his Master’s of Divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, KS in 1953. While attending Ottawa University, Robert married Juanita Oyer August 8, 1948. During their 53 years of marriage they were blessed with three daughters and two grandchildren. Robert pastored at several churches in Kansas, then in 1967 moved his family to Colorado and pastored at First Baptist Church and Immanuel Baptist Church in Delta. Robert is survived by his two daughters, Connie Townsend (Kevin) and Kathie Hawk (Glenn); two sisters, Lorraine Albert and Nelda Lee Griess,, and two grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and daughter, Karen Spindler. Memorial contributions can be made in Robert’s name to Samaritan’s Purse PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.
