Former Fruita resident Gladys Josephine Garlitz, 97, died Dec. 25, 2017, in La Grande, Oregon. She was a civic leader. Services will take place in Fruita at a later date. Survivors include three sons, Bert of Rifle, Joe of Elgin, Oregon and Kirby of Klamath Falls, Oregon; four daughters, Linda Miller of Burlington, Wisconsin, Gaylene Garlitz of Boulder, Jacqueline Kemp of Phoenix, and Cheryl Kautz of Colorado Springs; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
