Lew Fraser passed away on December 9, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. Lew was born in Litchfield, Illinois on March 11, 1944, to George and Goldie Fraser; he was the youngest of four boys. The family moved to Delta, Colorado, and Lew graduated from Delta High School as a distinguished wrestler. He was a proud Army Veteran of Vietnam in the Special Forces. He honored all Veterans. Lew was a manager of the old Shakey’s Pizza. He served for five years with the Grand Junction Police Department. Lew retired after 31 years as a railroad engineer with BNSF. Lew married Carole Hooper July 18, 1981. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, four wheeling or spending time at the cabin with friends and family. Lew’s passion was cars; more horsepower was more fun. He always had time to help a friend. There were no strangers in his life, not for long. He will be sorely missed by many. Lew is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George and Alex. Lew is survived by his wife, Carole; brother, Ray; sons, Kip (Joni), and Jared (Kat) of Grand Junction, CO. He leaves daughters, Lana (Corey) Kiesel of Fort Worth, TX; Angie Bustos of Grand Junction, CO, and Bethany (Jason) Wellbrock of Frederick, CO. Grandchildren include Randi, Brady, Shiane, Syvannah, Makayla, Hannah, Kamden, Reid, T.J., Jayden and Jordyn, and great-grandchild, Armoni. Services will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Friday December 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Reception will follow (1:30 - 4:30) at the VFW Post 1247, 1404 Ute Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Western Slope Patriot Guard Riders, 616 Lodgepole Street, Grand Junction, CO 81504.

Lewis “Lew” Fraser, 73, Palisade, died Dec. 9, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. He was a railroad engineer. Survivors include his wife, Carole; two sons, Kip, and Jared, both of Grand Junction; three daughters, Lana Kiesel of Fort Worth, Texas, Angela Bustos of Grand Junction, and Bethany Wellbrock of Frederick; one brother, Ray Fraser of Thermopolis, Wyoming; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Memorial contributions to the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard, P.O. Box 4438, Grand Junction 81502.
