Jack Webb August 10, 1926 - November 15, 2017
Jack Harris Webb, 91, of Grand Junction, Colorado, died peacefully at his home, one mile from where he was born, on November 15, 2017 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Grand Junction on August 10, 1926, to Roy and Anna (Hansen) Webb. Jack was one of nine children and attended school in Cameo and Palisade. In 1942 at the age of sixteen, Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly and honorably served his country until 1945. Following military service, he returned to Cameo and worked as a coal miner. Jack’s admirable work ethic led him to work a variety of jobs over the years including working with peaches, prospecting, carpentry, and retired as a Construction Manager for the Morrison Knudsen Corporation. Jack married the love of his life, Merle Marie Ingram on October 26, 1952 in Grand Junction. A lifelong storyteller and traveler, Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. He enjoyed playing golf, watching the Denver Broncos, tending to his garden, contributing to the Palisade Historical Society, and spending time with family and friends. Jack is preceded in death by his wife, parents, five siblings, and son in law (William Denlein). He is survived by daughters, Maura Griggs (Pat) of Grand Junction, and Theresa Denlein of North Salt Lake; granddaughter, Kristina Denlein of North Salt Lake; sisters, June and Helen, and brother, Larry of Grand Junction; step-granddaughter, Monica; step-grandchildren, Brooke and Tyler, and many loving nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at HopeWest Hospice who cared for Jack in his final weeks of life. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to HopeWest. There will be a celebration of life and open house at the Griggs’residence on December 2, 2017, from 2 - 6:00 p.m. Jack will be interred next to Merle at the Mesa Molina Cemetery on December 3 at noon.
