"Beautiful Aunt Jan" passed into the Lord to become an angel in heaven. Jan suffered with Alzheimer’s for the past seven years. Jan was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Janet and John Fleury. She married Gordon Conklin in 1973, and has one son, Timothy; step-son, Cris (Porcia); grandson, Aspen, and granddaughter, Cricia sisters, Joanne (John) Stenger and Jennifer Kopecky; brother, John (Robin). She has many nieces and nephews, hence Beautiful Aunt Jan. Jan was an elementary school teacher, in District 12, north of Denver. Retiring in 1998, she moved to Grand Junction in 2002 with husband Gordon. Jan had a master’s degree and taught art for the past six years before retiring. Jan will always be remembered for her Tole painting of which many relatives and friends have boxes, holiday ornaments, etc. She also enjoyed bike riding, hiking and skiing, if the weather was nice. A memorial service is planned for April 21, at 11:00 a.m. at American Lutheran Church, Grand Junction, followed by a reception. Please make any contributions to HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction.
