On Saturday, December 16, Betty L. Gowing went to be with her Lord at the age of 81. She was born December 4, 1936, in Parsons, KS, to Fred and Vyrel Hanley, and grew up in the Parsons area, where she graduated from high school. In 1956 she married Dwight Gowing; they were married until his passing in 1986. Betty served as an elementary schoolteacher for 35 years in eastern Kansas, but after her retirement she moved to Grand Junction in 1997. She was an active part of Victory Life Church, formerly First Assembly, and sang in the choir for many years. She is survived by two sisters, Liz McKee of Grand Junction, and Dorothy Dobson of Pasadena, TX, one nephew, and two nieces. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home at 904 N. 7th St. in Grand Junction. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Victory Life Church.
