Theresa M. Jackson, longtime resident of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2017, after several years of declining health. Her family was with her throughout her final journey. Terry was born July 2, 1936, to Andrew and Helen Smith of Sioux City, Iowa. She met Harry Jackson, the love of her life, while he was stationed there in the Air Force. They were married in 1956 and moved back to Harry’s home town of Grand Junction to begin a life together. They had three children, Mark, Kimberly, and Sheri. Her children were the most important thing in Terry’sworld until her final breath. Terry was a proud 30 year employee of Mesa County Social Services. She loved her role and service to the community, and made many close friends over the years. Retiring was one of the hardest decisions she ever made, and she missed her work and colleagues greatly. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for over 55 years, until she relocated to Arlington, Texas to be closer to family. Terry was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Andrew and Teddeus; sister, Mary, and husband, Harry, whom she missed and mourned every day for 27 years. She is survived by her children, Mark Jackson (Beth), Kim Mattison, and Sheri Jackson-Harbert (Bryan) as well as grandchildren, Katelyn and Tanner Harbert, Ryan Jackson, Daniel, Nikayla, and Liana Mattison, and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ryder. No funeral is planned but a memorial mass and celebration with Terry’s family and friends will occur later this spring in Grand Junction. Terry’sentire life was centered on her steadfast commitment to family, faith, and hard work. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we could all share that same sentiment. We love you and miss you Mom.
