Mary Evelyn Lutz-Gibson May 11, 1929 - December 15, 2017
Mary Evelyn Lutz Gibson was born May 11, 1929, in St John, Kansas to Ernest Franklin Lutz and Kathryn Alice Brenn Lutz. She passed on December 15, 2017, at the age of 88 years, lovingly surrounded by family. Mary grew up on the family farm, with her five siblings, June Lutz Morton, Clara Lutz Hathaway, Eldon Lutz, Ernesteen Lutz Rudy and Annetta Lutz Schwalm. After graduating from St. John High School Class of 1948 she married Robert Maynard Gibson on November 28, 1948. Robert and Mary had two children, Robert Ernest born October 6, 1951 in St. John, Kansas and Kathryn Marie born April 27, 1957 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. After living in St. John, Kansas; Sterling, Colorado; Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Española, New Mexico; Clayton, New Mexico, and Nederland, Colorado, the Gibson family moved to Clifton, Colorado in 1962 where Mary remained until her death. Mary’s grandchildren, Travis, Dustin, Kelli and Tara and her great-grandchildren, Ian, Adalia, Reece, and Cohen brought special joy into her life. She loved children and believed in the younger generations. Mary’spassions were her faith, family, music, art, writing, and gardening. She loved being with her family, teaching children and playing piano in church, painting mountains and hillsides, her garden, roses and the wild birds. We will miss her love and genuine heart. Mary was the matriarch of faith in our family. She laid our spiritual foundation, living it out in front of us. She accepted each of us as we were and warred for us in prayer daily. Mary will continue to guide us and encourage us through the faith that lives on in us all. What joy it is to know she heard her savior say, "well done thou good and faithful servant...enter into the joy of the Lord". Memorial service to be held at New Horizons Four Square Church, 641 Horizon Dr., Grand Junction on April 14 at 12:00 noon.
