Lois L. Power Hurla, 77, Grand Junction, died Dec. 21, 2017, at HopeWest Hospice Care Center. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 29 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Services will take place at 11 a.m. Dec. 30 at the mortuary. She was a seamstress and sales associate at North Avenue Furniture. Survivors include her husband, Thomas M.; two sons, Edward Norman Crandell and Jeff Crandell, both of Grand Junction; one daughter, Valerie Sue Elspas Long of Loveland; two sisters, Shirley Lavonne Power Brackett of Grand Junction and Mary Alice Power Miracle of Glade Park; two brothers, Lloyd Alfred Power Jr. of Collbran and Robert “Bob” Joe Power of Grand Junction; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Lois L. (Power) Hurla, age 77, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017, her birthday, at HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction, CO. Lois was born on December 21, 1940, in Grand Valley, CO to Lloyd Alfred Power Sr. and Velma Margaret (Davidson) Power. She spent her childhood in Grand Valley, CO where she graduated from Grand Valley High School. She also lived in Fremont, CA from 1966-1970 and Glenwood Springs, CO from 1984-1998. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, needle work, and interior decorating, and was a former seamstress/saleslady for North Avenue Furniture Co. in Grand Junction. Lois was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to many. She is survived by her husband, Thomas M. Hurla; her children, Edward Norman Crandell and wife, Lois (Weldon) Crandell, Jeff Crandell and Holli Barfoot, Valerie Sue (Elspas) Long and Jason Sanford, Chuck Hurla and Bill Hurla; sisters, Shirley Lavonne (Power) Brackett and Mary Alice (Power) Miracle; brothers, Lloyd Alfred Power Jr. and Robert "Bob" Joe Power; grandchildren, Matthew Scott Kelly, Cody Allen Crandell, Wendy Tait, Carrie Smith and Joe Hurla; greatgrandchildren, Joshua Tait, Krystal Kroft, and Brittany Francis; and great-great-grandchildren, Maeson, Ameleah, Maddie, Slader, Scarlet, and Killian. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Velma Power. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 5 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Orchard Mesa Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Crandell, Matthew Kelley, Scott Brackett, Darryl Miracle, Todd Brackett, Eli Power, and Aaron Power. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lloyd Power, Bob Power, Frank (F.D.) Miracle, Maynard Crandell, Richard McQuiston, Frank Hibbard, Steve Threlkeld, Del French, Chuck Hurla, and Bill Hurla. Memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
