William L. Culver, 63, Grand Junction, died Jan. 23, 2018, at HopeWest Hospice Care Center. Services have taken place. He was a Burger King franchisee. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; three sons, Andrew Culver of Hopkins, Minnesota, Mark Richards of Oro Valley, Arizona, and Clint Richards of Lyons; one daughter, Ashley McCoy of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and six grandchildren. William L. "Bill" Culver February 20, 1954 - January 23, 2018
William L. "Bill" Culver, 63, died on January 23, 2018, at HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction. Bill was born February 20, 1954, in Kansas to John and Georgia Culver, but spent his childhood in Boulder, Colorado after the family relocated. Bill went to work for Burger King in his early high school years. He was offered the opportunity to move to Grand Junction and become a partner in the restaurants located in the Grand Valley. With Bill’sleadership, the restaurants thrived and went through a period of expansion in the 1990’s.He ultimately had an association with Burger King for nearly 50 years with 38 of those years spent as a franchisee. He enjoyed many hobbies through the years. He loved traveling, especially trips to Las Vegas and was known for his great luck while gambling. In the last years of Bill’s life he enjoyed time with his family. Bill is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Grand Junction; daughter, Ashley McCoy (Matt) of Eau Claire, WI; son, Andrew Culver of Hopkins, MN; step-sons, Mark Richards (Amy) of Oro Valley, AZ, and Clint Richards (Teal) of Lyons, CO; grandchildren, Charlie, Avery, Jameson, John, Jenna and Ada. He is also survived by brother, Don (Meg) of Louisville, CO, and sister, Kathy (Norm) Ooms of Broomfield, CO, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Georgia Culver; sister, Cheryl and brother, Nick. In spite of battling years of illness, Bill always maintained a positive spirit and never gave up hope of recovery. He will be missed. Private family services were held February 3, 2018, in Delta, CO. Memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO 81506.
