Gwendolyn "Joy" Wood November 14, 1934 - January 12, 2018
Joy Wages Wood was born in Grand Junction where she met Mark while working at Rio Grande Railroad. They were married in 1953 and embarked on a life of love and adventure. Her favorite activities included anything that had to do with family, fun, or service of Jesus. Joy and Mark lived and worked in various small towns in western Colorado; Salt Lake, Denver, Phoenix, and retired back in Grand Junction. They were married for 62 years, had four children, nine grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. Joy died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on the morning of January 12. She was 83 years old and lived up to her name; she was always generous with her smiles and anything else that other people might need. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mark; son, Gale, and sister, Wilma. She is survived by her daughters, Cretia, Becky, and Terri, along with all the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Services are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, at Victory Life Church. She will be buried in Olathe Cemetery.
