Rae Marie Puderbaugh, 73, Grand Junction, died Jan. 14, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Service chapel. She was an educator. Survivors include one son, Christopher of Grand Junction; one daughter, Mary Beth Miller of Sandy Hook, Connecticut; her mother, Mary Borden of Grand Junction; two brothers, Lee Borden of Grand Junction and Michael Borden of Los Alamos, New Mexico; three sisters, Rita Harclerode of Flagstaff, Arizona, Patty Scaggs of Johnstown and Carol Seeley of Lincoln City, Oregon; and five grandchildren. Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2754 Compass Drive, No. 100, Grand Junction 81506, or Mesa County RSVP.

Rae Marie Puderbaugh December 1, 1944 - January 14, 2018
Rae Marie Puderbaugh, age 73, died on January 14, 2018, after an eight year battle with cancer. Rae was born in Kalispell, Montana to Mary (Doherty) and Roger Metcalf. Her father passed away and Rae was adopted by the late James Borden at age 19. Rae is survived by her mother, Mary Borden of Grand Junction, Colorado. Rae graduated from Nucla High School after growing up in Uravan, Colorado for most of her youth. She graduated with a teaching degree from the Colorado State College. Rae was an educator in Grand Junction for 31 years. She taught Home Economics at East Junior High and Grand Junction High School. She finished her career as a gifted and talented teacher at Mt. Garfield Middle School. Rae continued to volunteer as an educator at Mesa View Elementary School until her death. Rae was an active member of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and involved in the Democratic Party. She enjoyed hiking, quilting, and travel with her “village” buddies. She was a dedicated educator throughout her life Rae is survived by her former husband, Tom Puderbaugh of Grand Junction; son, Christopher Puderbaugh (Susan Ellenberger) of Grand Junction; daughter, Mary Beth Miller (Jon) of Sandy Hook, Connecticut; brothers, Michael (Melinda Brooks) of Los Alamos, New Mexico and Leonard Borden of Grand Junction; sisters, Carol Seeley (Jim) of Lincoln City, Oregon; Patricia Scaggs (Joe) of Johnston, Colorado, and Rita Harclerode (Bert) of Flagstaff, Arizona, as well as a large extended family. Rae loved and cherished her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. During Rae’s struggle with cancer she was continuously supported by a large group of special friends that helped her with her battle. A Service has been entrusted to Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Services on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Please, in lieu of flowers, consider donating to RSVP or the American Cancer Society.
