Carroll Owen December 17, 1935 - December 23, 2017
Carroll Dean Owen was born on December 17, 1935, in Meade, Kansas, to Charles Orville Owen and Vera Lucille Neville Owen. Carroll had five siblings: Keith, Marvin, Dorothy, Lorraine, and Shirley. He was raised by his mother in Towner, CO. At 17 he moved to Denver, CO, and worked for Mountain Bell/US WEST. Carroll was transferred to Glenwood Springs and then to Grand Junction, where he lived for 34 years. He retired after 33 years of service. Carroll served eight years in the Air National Guard. He married Patricia Jean Fenton on July 13, 1958. Carroll’s family always came first and was always his highest priority. He was involved with coaching baseball, was a Scout leader, and sponsored church youth groups. Carroll was loyal and loved to spend time with his friends. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He loved to laugh! Carroll was extremely competitive and loved to play just about any game. He enjoyed world travel, camping, woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing (a highlight was halibut fishing in Alaska), and singing Barbershop - especially with a quartet. He was a devout Broncos and Rockies fan. It did not matter what you put in front of him, Carroll could fix anything. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Kenneth (Vickie), David (Leanne), Jeffrey, and Kathleen (Donald); grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Hannah, Jessica, Jonathan, Shane, Madeline, and Lillian, and great-grandchild, Ashten.
