Juanita Mae Lafever June 5, 1927 - November 21, 2017
Juanita Mae Lafever, of Grand Junction, died peacefully at home on November 21. Juanita was born in Clark County, Indiana to Terry Bryan and Sara Naomi (Schlichter) Parks. She lived in Jeffersonville, Indiana until she was ten years of age and then moved to Michigan City, Indiana where she graduated from Isaac C. Elston Senior High School in 1946. In 1945, Juanita met Robert Lafever, a sailor temporarily stationed at the National Guard Armory of Michigan City. They were married in Michigan City in August 9, 1946. During the time that her husband attended college and graduate school, she began their family with two daughters, Norma and Janice. Following her husband’s career, she resided in Huntington, PA; Cambridge, MA; Richmond, VA; Los Angeles, CA (where their son Allen was born); Palo Alto, CA; Albuquerque, NM, and Grand Junction. After Juanita raised their children, she worked for 13 years as an employee of the U.S. Postal service in computer mail forwarding, first in Van Nuys, California and then in Grand Junction. She is survived by her husband, and their children, Allen Brian, Janice Marie, and Norma Jean McFarland, and sister, Esther Grace Back. At Juanita’s request there will be no memorial service.
