A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church in Delta, Colorado with Pastor Greg Teel officiating. Glenna Jean Murphy was born on December 20, 1940, in Appleton City, Missouri to John R. and Burnace (Winn) Murphy. She spent her early childhood in Grain Valley, Missouri then moved to Arizona for a very short period before settling just east of Colorado Springs. She graduated from Ellicott High School with the Class of 1959. After graduation, she went to work at JCPenny, and later worked for the City Utilities of Colorado Springs. On March 17, 1961, Glenna married her high school sweetheart, David Lee Gieck, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. To this union, three children were born. Glenna was a dedicated homemaker, and active wife and mother. In 1980, they moved to Delta, Colorado where Glenna resided until her passing. Glenna volunteered at the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a Chairman for the Ute Council Tree PowWow for several years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Delta. Glenna lived for her family. She delighted in family gatherings (and cooking for them), camping, attending her grandchildren’s athletics, and any other school function. She was a lover of all animals, especially her own pets. She also adored and supported the Native American culture.
