Robert Bruce Hopping, 61, Grand Junction, died Feb. 28, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Services will take place at 4 p.m. Monday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. He was a geologist. Survivors include his wife, Leitha; one son, Brandon of Grand Junction; one daughter, Nicole Beightel of Bozeman, Montana; and one grandchild. Memorial contributions to a charity of one’s choice.

Bob passed away peacefully on February 28 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. Bob always lived life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer, so much so he was known to play 18 holes in 40 degree weather—in shorts. He also enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, cooking brisket in his smoker, listening to music, and playing fetch with his cat, Ding-Ding. He was an accomplished Geologist, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Mesa State College in 1982. He worked many years under the Department of Energy and traveled all over the country during his career. Bob always made friends wherever he was. His sense of humor, compassion for others, and numerous great qualities will be missed immensely by all. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Rosie Holekson. He is survived by the love of his life, wife, Leitha Hopping; parents, Fred and Rose Hopping; daughter, Nicole (Nick) Beightel; son, Brandon Hopping; grandchildren, Bianca, Nicklas, and Thomas; and last, but not least, his furry pal, DingDing the cat. Services will be held at Callahan-Edfast, Monday, March 5 at 4 p.m.. There will be a gathering afterwards at Horizon Four Square Church.
