Earl R. "Uncle Richard" Henby went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2018, at the age of 93, at HopeWest Hospice Care Facility in Grand Junction, CO. Richard was born on June 20, 1924, in San Diego, CA, to Earl and Harriet (Tompkins) Henby. Richard was proudest of two things in hs life: his marriage to the love of his life, Norma Lee Nigh on November 7, 1946, and joining the U.S. Navy after he graduated from high school on June 3, 1943. He and Norma Lee were married for 62 years until her death in 2012. He retired from the U.S. Navy as Chief Petty Officer First Class after 20 years. Richard was also proud to receive a "50 Years a Past Master Award" on June 13, 2015, by the Grand Lodge of Masons of Indiana, Webb Lodge NO. 24, F.&A.M. After Norma Lee died, Uncle Richard came to Colorado to live with his nephew, Dick Mann, and Dick’s wife, Linda. He became the third of Three Musketeers who traveled extensively throughout the Western U.S. and wintered in Yuma, AZ. Dick and Linda’s family in Colorado, Oregon and California will miss him greatly. A Celebration of Life will be held at Appleton Christian Church, 2510 I-70 Frontage Road in Grand Junction on March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow service. In the spring, Richard will be interred with his wife in Arlington, Indiana.
