Thomas MacNeill Maddox, former resident of Steamboat Springs, died August 14 in Hendersonville, NC. He was 69.
Tom was born September 22,1948 in Boulder,CO. He graduated from Evergreen High School in 1966 and enrolled at Creighton University in Omaha. He returned to Colorado and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 1970.
Tom began his career as a high school English teacher. Later, Tom joined Steamboat Travel, an agency owned by his parents Patricia and Sam Maddox. In the mid 1980s Tom hosted a radio show at KFMU in Oak Creek. Tom later worked as an airport manager in Aspen and Seattle. He returned to the Denver area as a physicians assistant in the early 2000s, and later as a computer analyst.
Tom was a skilled photographer, a life long guitar player and a visual artist. He was an avid gardener
Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by four siblings, Samuel, from Los Ángeles; Robert, from Steamboat Springs, Jeffery, from Edwards,CO; and Mary Pat Robards, from Steamboat Springs. Tom had five nephews, two nieces, one great nephew and one great niece. He is survived also by his goddaughter, Ilasiea Gray, from Denver. He leaves behind a large network of friends across the US,Canada and Australia
