Harold W. “Doc” Ellison, 94, Grand Junction, died March 20, 2018, at Larchwood Inns. Services will be at a later date in Iowa. He was a retired construction superintendent. He is survived by six daughters, Marjorie Spehar of Grand Junction, Gail Olsen of Davenport, Iowa, Patricia Holm of LeClaire, Iowa, Deborah Banaszek of Port Washington, Wisconsin, LaVonne Banaszek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Connie Lucky of DeWitt, Iowa; and 13 grandchildren. Harold W. "Doc" Ellison November 26, 1923 - March 20, 2018
Harold W. "Doc" Ellison, 94, of Grand Junction, Colorado, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on March 20, 2018. Harold was born November 26, 1923, in Dewey, OK, a son of Francis B. and Nancy R. (Martin) Ellison. He was united in marriage to Doris L. Clifton on August 3, 1946, in Davenport. She preceded him in death on July 28, 2004. He was turned down for enlisting in the Armed Forces after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, due to poor eyesight. But, he proudly spent three years in Oahu, Hawaii, helping to rebuild Battleship Row, arriving there on January 20, 1942. Harold was employed by Waters Construction Co. of Rock Island, Illinois for many years as a construction superintendent. He was proud of his service in the construction industry, building many prominent commercial buildings in the QuadCity area. Harold was an avid golfer, and enjoyed the game immensely, having 13 holes in one during his golfing career. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and earned bragging rights when the Cubs won The World Series in 2016. Harold was immensely proud of his family. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie Spehar of Grand Junction; Gail and Thomas Olsen of Davenport, Iowa; Patricia and Charles Holm of LeClarie, Iowa; Deborah and Joseph Banaszek of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; LaVonne Banaszek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Connie and Terry Lucky of DeWitt, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-greatgrandchildren. In addition to his wife, Doris, he was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; three brothers; son-in-law, Timothy Spehar, and grandson, James Kraklio. A memorial service will be held at The Fountains on April 24, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional caregivers at The Fountains, where Harold made his home for three years, and two months.
