Darrell Norman Stewart was born November 15, 1927, in Eagle, Colorado. He spent most of his childhood on a large ranch in Sweetwater. Darrell spent his WWII days as a chauffeur and security guard for General Byers, under the direction of General Macarthur. He also was responsible for transporting and caring for General Macarthur’s son, Arthur, and other family members. He was very proud of his military days and took his duties seriously. Upon returning from military service he married his first love, Dorothy Schroder, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He and his family moved to Leadville, where he worked as a security guard for Climax Molybdenum mine and retired after 31 years. After retirement he moved to Fruita, Colorado. His hobbies were old cars, family history, dancing, and his great love of music. He was a member of the Moose Lodge for many years. Darrell is survived by his loving partner, Marjorie Kelly. Additional survivors include two sons; one daughter; two granddaughters; sister, Penny Powell; brother, Jerry Farrington (Judy); sister-in-law, Barbara Stewart; many nieces, nephews, and friends, and Marge’s family.
