Jan Rossum December 13, 1938 - March 21, 2018
Jan Rossum went to be her Lord and Savior on March 21, 2018. She died peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 79. Born and raised in Clay County, Kansas, she moved with her parents, John and Vera (Cyr) McAdams to the Grand Valley in her senior year and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1956. On December 27 of that same year, she married the love of her life, Donald Robert Rossum. Together they established a warm, wonderful life filled with family and friends. Jan had a natural ability with numbers and entered the business world as a cashier with the Montgomery Ward Company. She completed her career in accounting as an associate with Rocky Mountain HMO. Some of her favorite enjoyments included traveling, baking, flowers, horses, food, and handcrafting beautiful Christmas ornaments. She was especially passionate about the color purple, playing board or card games, and ALL things chocolate. She bravely met life’s challenges and courageously faced the difficulties that came her way later in life. We will remember Jan most for blessing us with her kind and generous spirit, her infectious laughter, and her marvelous sense of humor. Jan was preceded in death by mother, Vera McAdams, and sisters, Avis Zinn and Norma Moore. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Don; her father, John McAdams; sister, Elaine (Don) Stenulson; children, Vicki (Mario) Ramos, and David (Amanda) Rossum; grandchildren, Scott (Donna), Shayne, Shawn (Brittaney), and Andrew, and great-grandchildren, Faylinne, Murphie, Courtlon, Zowie, Sebastian, and Rose. A special THANK YOU to HopeWest Hospice for their tender care of the precious woman who meant so much to us. Services will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery on April 16, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. Immediately following will be a ‘Chocolate Celebration’ in honor of Jan, featuring her favorite chocolate confections. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Jan’s name to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
