Fabian Rodriguez died Friday at his home in Gypsum. He was 90 years old. He was born in Rio Lucio, New Mexico, May 1, 1912. His parents were the late Jose Maria & Emily (Gurule) Rodriguez. After going to school in Rio Lucio, Fabian married Della Lujan in 1935. Together, Fabian and Della moved to Colorado where Fabian worked for the Gilman Mining Co. They lived in Gilman from 1939 to 1980, before moving to Minturn where Fabian worked at The Turntable Restaurant. In 2001, the Rodriguezes moved to Gypsum.

Fabian loved fishing and playing cards with his good friend, Reuben Romero. He also loved to gamble. Fabian enjoyed watching football and baseball; more than anything, though, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Della, of Gypsum; nine children--Ruby (Jim) Medina in Red Cliff, Fabian Rodriguez, Jr., of New York City, Elmer (Rita) Rodriguez, Anthony (Chela) Rodriguez, of Denver, Cynthia (Terry) Hollingsworth, of Leadville, Frank Rodriguez, of Eagle, Donna (Albert) Sisneros, Mary and Steve Rodriguez, all of Gypsum; one brother, Sebedeo Rodriguez, of Penasco, New Mexico; and three sisters--Vivianita (Juan) Vigil, of Llana, New Mexico, Telesfora Olguin, of Farmington, New Mexico and Lydia Maestas, of Pocatella, Idaho.

Services were held on Wed., June 5th, at 11 a.m. at the Red Cliff Auditorium; Fabian was interred at River View Cemetery in Minturn. Elder Terry Hollingsworth officiated. Pallbearers were Randy Medina, Elmer Rodriguez, Jr., Ben Gallegos, Mario Rodriguez, Paul Rodriguez, Kevin Sisneros, and Reuben Romero. Honorary pallbearers were D.J. Sandoval and Kenny Sandoval.

Following the services, the Rodriguez family received friends at a reception at the Red Cliff Town Hall.
