Former Grand Junction resident, Barry Albert Fournier, 79, Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada died March 23, 2018. He passed away peacefully at Baillie House (Ruskin Hill) with his beloved children by his side. Barry was born in 1939, in New Westminster, BC to Doreen and Albert and grew up in Port Moody. He served in the Navy and spent much of his life working as a chef and restauranteur. In 1986 he opened his Restaurant, Garfield’s, in the Redlands, Grand Junction. Barry was a fun loving, hard working man, whose motto was "work hard and play hard". His energy, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit was boundless. He loved people and was a tremendous husband and partner to his wife, Kathy. At the age of 49 he suffered a stroke that left him with disabilities, but he never let that stop him. He traveled to Belgum, Australia and the Baha. He drove thousands of miles across the USA and Canada visiting family and his many friends. He will be missed. Barry is predeceased by parents, Doreen and Albert; brother, David, and sisters, Arlene and Judy. He is survived by his brother, Don; daughters, Shawn and Richelle; son, Lance; grandchildren, Bryce, Natasha, and Tiana, and great-granddaughter, Tali, as well as many nieces and nephews and so many wonderful friends at the Maple Ridge Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #88. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, Maple Rige BC. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation BC, Canada.
