Kirsch Sanders loved the outdoors

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs for Kirsch Sanders, who died Dec. 6 of pancreatic cancer. Kirsch's final resting will be beside her husband, Billy Sanders, at Ft. Logan Cemetery in Denver.

Kirsch and Bill moved to Vail in the late 1960s after retiring from the Air Force. With great love for the out of doors, Kirsch was at one time an avid skier, hiker and tennis player. In later years, bowling, traveling and real estate investing were major interests.

She always said that the best thing about her were her friends, these past few months have shown us why she felt that way. Our thanks to all of you for your love, support and prayers.

Kirsch was born July 13, 1996 in Carmen, Okla.

Kirsch is survived by one daughter, Nancy Clark of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one son, Jerry Sanders of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Velda Gilbert of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy W. Sanders.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research in care of Farnum-Holt Funeral Home, 405 W. 7th, Glenwood Springs, Colo., 81601

Longtime Vail resident dead at 72

Memorial services for Kirsch Sanders will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Farnum Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs. Sanders will be buried beside her late husband Billy at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver.

Sanders, a longtime Vail resident, passed away Dec. 6 at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale. Born in Carmen, Okla., she was 72.

Sanders moved to Vail with her husband in the late 1960s after retiring from the U.S. Air Force. With a love for the outdoors, Kirsch was at one time an avid skier, hiker and tennis player. In later years she took up bowling with a passion, establishing her name as one of the best bowlers in the region. She also enjoyed traveling and investing in real estate.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Clark of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one son, Jerry of Los Angeles; a sister, Velda Gilbert of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy W. Sanders.
