Leonard "Len" Arthur Hoeft March 22, 1929 - June 2, 2018
On June 2, 2018, Leonard "Len" A. Hoeft went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Len was born on March 22, 1929, in Groton, South Dakota, to Henry and Hattie Hoeft. He joined the Navy in 1948 and served his country for 23 years, most of which was spent on submarines. He retired in 1971 as Chief. He then completed his career in Civil Service as an electronics technician for the U.S. Air Force. In 1977, Len accepted Jesus as his Savior and never faltered in his faith. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved backpacking, hiking, fishing, and traveling. Len is preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Betty Jo Hoeft; son, Scott Hoeft, and four siblings, Shirley Hoeft Glugla, Lorraine Hoeft Wilber, Lois Hoeft Lanphear, and Henry J. Hoeft. Those remaining to cherish his memory are three children, sons, Terry L. Hoeft and Larry M. Hoeft, both of Wisconsin, and daughter, Joyce Hoeft Faubel of Wisconsin; sisters, Charlotte Hoeft Kramp (Wayne) of Colorado; Pamela Hoeft Melton (Doug) of Arizona and Colorado; Elaine Hoeft (Larry) Curtis of Tennessee; brothers, Harwood Hoeft (Betty) of California, and Allen Hoeft (Connie) of South Dakota; grandchildren, Adam and Andrew Faubel, and Brandi and Jennifer Hoeft, and several nieces and nephews. Having the honor of taking care of Len in the latter part of his life are Russell and Melanie Beckwith, his children in Christ, who could not have achieved this without the help of Aimee Morfitt. Len will be terribly missed by all that knew him and was deeply loved. Services will be provided by Callahan-Edfast in Grand Junction, Colorado on June 12, with visitation at 11:00 a.m., and funeral at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
