Barbara Ann Rose July 10, 1952 - December 21, 2017
After a short illness Barbara Ann Rose passed away on December 21, 2017. She was 65 years old. Barbara was born in San Francisco, California on July 10, 1952. She graduated from the University of California, Davis, majoring in Animal Science. Barbara was employed and remained with U.S. Farmer’s Administration in Stockton, California, Grand Junction, Colorado and Alamosa, Colorado. In 1994 Barbara was transferred to Albuquerque, New Mexico to work with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Barbara was honored with a plaque on April 8, 2013, the date of her retirement that read: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Expresses Its Grateful Appreciation To Barbara Rose for 37 Years of Public Service to the People of the United States of America. She was a kind and loving animal lover. Her special love of her horses, burros, dogs and cats kept her life and heart warm, and her house full. Barbara’s special talents in riding brought her multiple awards, trophies and blue ribbons for Endurance Riding and Dressage. Her life long dream of running a horse boarding facility was just about to be realized prior to her untimely passing. Barbara is survived by her sister, Nancy Hijar of Grand Junction, CO; niece, Kathleen Ann Bittleston of Duchesne, UT; great-nephews, Nicholas Salas and Phillip Essex of Duchesne, UT; numerous cousins all over the United States; her fiance, Efren Fernandez, of 17 years, Edgewood, New Mexico, and a former husband, Richard P. Rose of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Cremation has taken place. An announcement will be made regarding an upcoming Memorial Service in Grand Junction, CO , which will be held publicly. Private burial services, for family only, will be held at Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nancy Hijar, to forward to Barbara’schosen Rescue Organizations, at 302 Orson Avenue, Clifton, CO 81520. A heartfelt gratitude of thanks must be extended to all of Barbara’s friends, family and co-workers who have sent messages, condolences, and cards of sympathy, many full of love, kindness and remembering Barbara in their prayers. This has helped make this difficult time and huge loss in our family and lives somewhat easier.
