HERBERT CHARLES RUSSELL October 13, 1911 to February 25, 2000

Herbert was born to Charles and May Russell in Herber, Utah. Mr. Russell and his family moved to Yampa, Colorado in 1917. Herbert took up homesteading in Burns, Colorado in 1931. He married Marie Tyls in 1942, who preceded him in death in 1999. Mr. Russell moved to British Columbia, Canada in 1967. He has wintered in Winterhaven since 1980.

Mr. Russell was rancher and homesteader mos to his life. He started a church and services in Burns in 1954. He also built bridges such as catamount, Burns, and statebridge. Mr. Burns also ran graders on the highways and did electrical wiring in homes around Burns. He did a lot of trapping in the winter months and was noted for being an excellent shot with a rifle and pistol.

Mr. Burns is survived by his children; Bob Russell a rancher from Big Creek, British Columbia, Canada. Bertha Russell from Winterhaven, California,. Lonnie Russell from Hagenborg, British Columbia, Canada. Jean Dice from Silt, Colorado. Josephine Clapp from Port Angelas, Washington, and David Horn deceased in August 1946. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren. \\

Services are scheduled for Friday, March 3, 2000 at the Burns Baptist Church at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at the McCoy Cemetery in McCoy.
