Myra Louise O’Dell passed away peacefully in her home on July 2, 2018. She was born in Orrick, MO to Euel Woods and Blanche Tucker Woods. She was the oldest of six girls. She attended grade school in Orrick, MO and moved to Excelsior Springs, MO to attend high school where she graduated in 1948. Myra started dating Vernon F. O’DellJr. during her high school years. They were married in Excelsior Springs on June 12, 1949. Following their marriage, they moved to Kansas City, MO where Myra worked at a bank and at North American Aviation while Vernon attended medical school. After Vernon completed his medical training in 1955, they moved to Grand Junction, CO. Myra was active in the First Baptist Church and worked in the nursery for many years. She served as secretary for the Grand Junction Horse Show Association and was very involved in raising and showing quarter horses with her family. She was active politically and served regularly on the PTA. Most importantly, she was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Myra was the cornerstone to the family, raising their two children and maintaining order on the ranch while Vernon built his practice as a local physician. She devoted her life to her family and always put the needs of her loved ones first. Myra had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. She always made new acquaintances feel welcome. She was an avid reader and remained current on local and world events. She loved to crochet and spent much of her time making blankets for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the family. She was known to her family as a wonderful cook, but those closest to her knew that she preferred to spend her time outside. Following Vernon’s retirement, they traveled to Europe and, in their RV, to Alaska, Canada, and across the United States. Myra is survived by husband, Vernon; son, Steve (Gina) O’Dell of Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Cindy (Steve) Buller of Grand Junction, CO; sisters, Sharon Wesley and Pam Heflin, both of Missouri; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to HopeWest. Memorial services to be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Martin Mortuary.

Myra L. O’Dell, 88, Grand Junction, died July 2, 2018, at her home. Services are pending. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Vernon F.; one son, Steve of Grand Junction; one daughter, Cindy Buller of Grand Junction; two sisters, Sharon Wesley and Pamela Heflin, both of Missouri; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
