He is survived by his wife, Lynn; three sons, Mike of Flagstaff, Arizona, Rob of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Steve of Cookeville, Tennessee; one daughter, Sue Dunham of Newark, Delaware; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

George Dunham, 81, engineer and real estate broker, died July 5, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, CO. George was born to Col. Fred and Florence Dunham in 1936, in Pueblo, CO, and grew up in several locations in the US and abroad. He graduated from Colorado School of Mines in 1959, and began a career as a coal mining engineer in Colorado and Utah, eventually moving east to Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia. He married his high school sweetheart, Lynn Chedester, in 1957. Together, they raised a family of four children over their 61 years of marriage. George was a devoted family man, giving his children the gifts of the outdoors, responsibility, and independence. George and Lynn took an interest in real estate and became Realtors. After moving back west in 1996, they established George Dunham Real Estate in Grand Junction, where he was known for his red hats and friendly approach to real estate. Notably, he brokered the sale of the Grand Junction Railroad Depot three times. George is a fourth-generation western slope pioneer, following his family’slong legacy in western Colorado. In his parent’sfootsteps, George and Lynn were active members of the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. He was a Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Rower, Golden Gloves Boxer, Runner, Engineer, Realtor, Inventor, Friend, Jokester, Storyteller, Mentor, Helper, and Protector. George is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Michael (Patricia); Robert (Lisa-Jo); Stephen (Angela), and Susan (Michael) Houghton; eight grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his sister, Patricia Vonieff and brother, Gene Dunham. His family travelled from nine states to celebrate his life at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church on July 11, 2018. George will be missed for his big smile, eye-glass crushing hugs, and great stories. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City, UT or to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
