Joanne C. Hartman, 87, Grand Junction, died July 5, 2018. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, at the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary Chapel. She was a small business owner. Joanne was born in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Helen M. Bennett and Nelson H. Cone, and passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital with her loving daughters by her side. Joanne attended University of Maryland, was selected as Miss Dolphin in 1952, and married Verne J. Hartman, an underwater photographer for the Navy a year later. They raised their family in Colorado; first in Longmont, then Collbran and in Palisade where she became the "Lily Lady". She was a Small Business Owner and Homemaker. She retired and enjoyed life at The Cottages and Commons. Her husband, and brother, Nelson B. Cone, preceded her in death. Joanne is survived by daughters, Linda Spencer and Cynthia Hartman, as well as several nieces, nephews, adopted daughters and friends. She loved family and friends, water, china painting, gardening, cooking, live music and antiques. Donations, in Joanne’s name, to Wounded Warriors, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 are welcome and appreciated. Friends and family are welcome to attend the celebration of life, officiated by Roger Ferguson, on Monday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m.; reception to follow, at Callahan-Edfast Chapel, 2515 Patterson Rd., Grand Junction, Colorado, 81505.
