Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. July 14, with services at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Mortuary. Burial will follow at Orchard Mesa Cemetery. She was a self-employed partner at Grassroots Sod Farm. Survivors include her husband, Allen; one son, Michael Toomey of Grand Junction; one daughter, Kim Philia of Cañon City; one brother, Alan Ingerson of Deltona, Florida; two sisters, Karen Perry of Catlett, Virginia, and Donna Thoman of Shelbyville, Indiana; and three grandchildren. Kathryn Charlene Gobbo, 73, died July 4, 2018, at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. Kathy was born in Washington D.C., to Charles and Lila (Haas) Ingerson on April 20, 1945. She graduated from Annandale High School in Virginia. She briefly worked at the Pentagon for the Navy Department. Kathy married Allen Gobbo at the family ranch on Pinon Mesa on June 11, 1983. They raised their blended family at the family farm near Grand Junction. Kathy and Allen were married for 35 years. Kathy worked hard and initiated the Gobbo Farms and Orchards presence at the Teller Arms Farmers Market. In 1996, Gobbo Farms was divided and Kathy and Allen continued the sweet corn part of the business, starting the Gobbo Sweet Corn Company. Kathy quickly, with the help of the workers, started building a fruit stand attached to the sweet corn icing facility. The new fruit stand on 22 Road soon became affectionately known as "Kathy’s City Market". Kathy and Allen started a new venture in the year 2000. By using a play on words, Kathy quickly came up with the name Grassroots Sod Farm. Her son, Michael, is now managing the business that continues to do well. Her survivors include husband, Allen; son, Michael Toomey, of Grand Junction; daughter, Kim Philia of Canon City, Colorado; step-daughters, Kellie (Marcus Straub) Caldwell and children, Lily, Reis, and Savannah, and Erin (Rob) Bescheinen and children, Weston and Hadley; grandson, Caleb Miller, of Grand Junction; granddaughters, Megan Poole and Kileen Miller, both of Newberg, Oregon; brother, Alan (Pam) Ingerson, of Deltona, Florida; sister, Karen Perry, of Catlett, Virginia, and cousin, Donna Thoman of Shelbyville, Indiana. Kathy’s first son, Ron Toomey, died March 9, 1981 in a climbing accident. Our family would like to thank the people at the Center at Foresight for their professional care during her three month period of rehabilitation. Also, a special thank you to the people at HopeWest Hospice for their gracious care of Kathy. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 14, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at Martin Mortuary. Her celebration of life will begin at 10:30, with a committal service to follow at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
