Steamboat Pilot and Today - October 2, 2018
Timothy Wright Fletcher passed away peacefully on September 25th after a hard fought battle with ALS. Tim was born in Chicopee Falls, MA where his father, Donald, was stationed at Westover AFB in 1955. Eventually, Tim loaded up for a road trip across the country and found himself in Steamboat Springs in the late 70’s and has lived here ever since.
Tim embraced the Steamboat lifestyle to the fullest. From his early years as a patroller at Steamboat Resort to his later years patrolling and hanging out with the many kids at Howelsen Hill. When the snow wasn’t flying, Tim was out causing a ruckus on his Harley Davidson. Tim loved going on long rides and weekend adventures with his dear friend Michelle Schiau and their close-knit group of friends.
If you wanted to put a smile on Tim’s face you just had to ask him about his boys. Nothing made him prouder than his sons. Tim traveled all around the world to watch Bryan and Taylor compete in Nordic Combined. From Russia to Korea, there was no destination too remote. Shortly after Tim was diagnosed with ALS, he met the girl who would steal his heart. Tim fell instantly in love with his granddaughter Ellery. “Papa Tim” as he came to be known, taught Ellery how to use her legs to jump to the sky but it wasn’t long before the teacher became the student and “Papa Tim” was dancing to whatever tune Ellery set.
Tim is survived by his two sons Bryan (Nikki) Fletcher and Taylor Fletcher. His granddaughter Ellery Fletcher. His long-time companion, Michelle Schiau. His brother Don (Bonnie) Fletcher, niece Lindsay Fletcher, nephew Doug (Lauran) Fletcher and sister Corie Fletcher.
A celebration of life for Tim’s many friends and family will be held on Saturday, Oct 6th at Olympian Hall from 6-9 pm, snacks and drinks will be provided. Memorial Ski Run, Sunday March 24, 2019. Gathering at the top of Ted’s Ridge at 9:30 AM. We will begin to ski at 9:55 AM. Please bring a bud. We will then gather at the bottom of Bashor after we ski Ted’s.

Timothy W. Fletcher 63, longtime resident of Steamboat Springs passed away September 25, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 6, 2018 at Olympian Hall from 6:00 – 9:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Winter Sports Club in Tim’s name.
