Jerry E. Wimberly, 82, Fruita, died April 12, 2018, at HopeWest Hospice Care Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Valley Church of Grand Junction. He worked for Mountain Bell Telephone and was a hatmaker. He is survived by his wife Louise E.; two sons, Kevin of Fruita and Kyle of Aledo, Texas; two daughters, Samma Jo Wimberly of Fruita and Tammy Warnke of Grand Junction; two brothers, Gary Wimberly and Kenneth Davis, both of New Mexico; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Jerry Eugene Wimberly, 82, passed away April 12, 2018, at HopeWest in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was born March 20, 1936, in Hope, New Mexico, to Grady and Tiny Evelyn Edwards Wimberly. After spending his childhood in Fort Sumner, NM, Jerry lived in Mesa County for 72 years. He graduated from Central High School. Jerry was a member of Valley Church and the Palisade Masonic Lodge. He retired in 1990 from Mountain Bell/US West after working for them for 35 years. He was also a western hat maker for Wimberly’s Western Hatters. He was a Sp. 4 in the U.S. Army in 1958. Watching the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos, as well as horses, cattle, and outdoor activities, were his interests. Jerry is survived by his wife, Louise of Fruita, CO; sons, Kyle G. Wimberly of Aledo, TX, and Kevin S. Wimberly of Fruita, CO; daughters, Samma Jo Wimberly of Fruita, CO, and Tammy D. Warnke of Grand Junction, CO; brothers, Gary Wimberly of Belen, NM, and Kenneth Davis of Bosque, NM; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Grady Wimberly; mother, Tiny Evelyn Edwards; brother, Grady E. Wimberly, Jr., and step-brother, Johnny Davis. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Valley Church, 2940 I-70 Business Loop, Grand Junction, CO.
