FORMER McCOY MAN KILLED IN AIR CRASH
An Arvada businessman, Wm. H Schemers, 37 of 1605 Wadsworth was killed Aug. 22 when his Marine fighter plane crashed and horned just short of the runway station at an air station at El Toro Marine Air Station, Calif. Schomers was a major in the Marine Air Corps reserve. He escaped from a crash at the Buckley Naval Air Station ait Denver in 1953 when his plane crashed and burned during a takeoff. On Aug. 22, Schomers was fly. Ing an F9F Cougar jet fighter. He was on two weeks active duty with the Marine Reserve Sffuad.ron VMF 113 stationed at the Olathe, Kans. NAS. Major Schomers was bom at McCoy, in northern Eagle County, and educated there. He graduated from the McCoy High School. He designed the first Kristi snow cat and later organized the Kristi Manufacturing Co- In Arvada. Major Schemer is survived by a sister, Mrs- Nathan Ray of 2235 Teller St... Lakewood. Mrs. Ray’s sister-in-law. Mrs. Wm. Johannhroer, resides at McCoy.
