William Seidel, 84, Grand Junction, died July 17, 2018, at Vineyards Memory Care. Services will be at a later date. He was a banker. Survivors include his wife, Candace; three sones, John Seidel of Colorado, Rob Seidel of Virginia and Joe Peterson of Oregon; one daughter, Wanda Peterson of Grand Junction; and six grandchildren. "See by the moonlight, ’tis most midnight".... It is with sadness and love that we say goodbye to William "Bill" Seidel. He will be sorely missed. His humor and witticisms endeared him to friends and family alike. An excellent student and star hockey player, Bill graduated from Central High School in Omaha, NE, in 1952. He carried his aptitude for learning and sports to Iowa State and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering in 1957. He met his first wife, Marcia Day, in Omaha, where they raised their two sons, John and Rob. They divorced, and remained good friends until her death. He was vice-president of the John Day Company until his retirement in 1987. He moved to Grand Junction, CO, in 1988, with his current wife, Candace, and her two children, Joe and Wanda. He is one of the founding partners of the Grand Valley Corporation, and was a supporter of small business entrepreneurs. Bill led an active, healthy lifestyle, and until recently, was "one step ahead of a fit and two steps ahead of the sheriff". He was a devoted and loving husband and father even as Alzheimer’sslowly took over. No services are planned at this time. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or HopeWest Hospice. His family requests that you celebrate Bill’slife joyfully. They ask that you "whoop and holler, shoot a silver dollar and then get stinkin’ like Abraham Lincoln".
