Maudie Edith Felton, 92, Grand Junction, died June 27, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Services are being planned. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Peters and Ginger Gassett, both of Denver; and one grandchild.

Maudie Felton, of Grand Junction, age 92, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on June 27, 2018, with her nephew, Bill Childers, at her side. Maudie was born in Missouri on February 22, 1926, to Mr. Oren Clyde and Mrs. Bessie Viola Childers. She had 11 siblings. The family came to Colorado in a covered wagon and homesteaded in Cripple Creek. Maudie attended schools in Kremling and Denver, and later worked as a seamstress and tailor. She married Harold Felton on August 30, 1963, in Denver. Maudie was a dedicated mother and homemaker to their two daughters and made the family’s clothes. They enjoyed camping together. Maudie was a very talented crafter. She crocheted, knitted, embroidered and tatted many beautiful gifts for family and friends. A February, 2017 article in The Daily Sentinel documented Mrs. Felton’s legacy, which was making baby afghans given to many non profit organizations throughout the Grand Valley. She gifted countless numbers of blankets, quilts, afghans, christening dresses, doilies, and doll clothes throughout her lifetime. Maudie was preceded in death by her husband; parents, and 11 siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Ginger Gassett and Becky Peters; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephew, Bill Childers and family, as well as a circle of family and friends. Graveside services are to be held at 3:00 on July 27, 2018, at Fort Logan Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, Colorado.
