Raymond Lyle "Butch" Penick August 2, 1945 - June 18, 2018
Longtime civic leader Raymond Lyle "Butch" Penick passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, at his residence in Delta, Colorado. He was 72 years of age. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018, at Delta Presbyterian Church in Delta, CO. Interment will follow at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta, CO, with Reverend Keri Shelton officiating. Ray was born August 2, 1945, in Cedaredge, Colorado to Robert Karl and Margaret Alice (Schindler) Penick. He spent his childhood in Cedaredge where he attended school and graduated from Cedaredge High School with the class of 1963. After high school he went on to attend Colorado State University and San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. On June 13, 1970, Ray married Alice May Faules in Ft. Collins, CO. This union was blessed with two sons. The family moved from Grand Junction to Delta in 1985. He was an Elder at Delta Presbyterian Church and member of the board, involved with CFDA, NFDA, Rotary, IOOFCedaredge and City Council in Delta, where he served several years on the city council. He enjoyed four wheeling, fishing, horses and was great husband, dad and family member. Mr. Penick is survived by sons, Mark Penick of Rathdrum, ID, and Jeff (Tori) Penick of San Diego, CA; brothers, Robert "Jim" (Shannon) Penick of Cedaredge, CO; Dave Penick of Eckert, CO; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 42 years, Alice and sister, Shirley. The family requests memorial contributions made in Ray’s name to PEO Chapter BK- Alice Penick nursing scholarship or Delta Presbyterian Church.
