Jean Marie Oberly, 72, Grand Junction, died June 17, 2018, at her home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Palisade Cemetery. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Clifton Christian Church in Clifton. She was a nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Jean Marie Oberly December 14, 1945 - June 17, 2018
Jean Marie Oberly, 72, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away quietly in her sleep early Sunday morning, June 17. Jean Marie was a lifelong resident of the Grand Valley, raised on the Oberly family farm orchard on F-5/8 Road in Clifton. She attended Clifton area schools, graduating from Central High School in 1964. She attended Intermountain Bible College and Mesa College simultaneously, completing degrees at both colleges in three years time. She served as a nurse for 37 years on the surgery/orthopedic floor at St. Mary’s Hospital. Music was Jean Marie’s second simultaneous (volunteer) "career". She was an accomplished pianist and organist, playing both instruments for many years for the Clifton Christian Church, where she was scheduled to accompany the worship music on the morning of her passing. Jean Marie loved her Lord Jesus Christ and loved serving Him and His Church; she felt a special passion for His world-wide mission. For many years she chaired both her own church’s Missions Team and the broader Missions Conference co-hosted by area Christian Churches. She was a close friend and lifelong supporter of missionaries in countries around the world. Jean Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Evelyn (Allen) Oberly, and brother, Carl Oberly. The family invites her many friends to join the celebration of Jean Marie’slife on Friday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Clifton Christian Church. Prior to the celebration service, there will be graveside service at the Palisade Municipal Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions are appreciated to Clifton Christian Church (Mission Fund), 3241 F 1/4 Road, Clifton, CO 81520.
