Victor Dalpiaz, 41, Fruita, died June 19, 2018, at HopeWest Hospice Care Center. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. at the church. Services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at the New Elmwood Cemetery. He was a railroad carman. Survivors include his wife, Erica; his mother, Stacey Dalpiaz of Grand Junction; his father, Terry Dalpiaz of Delta; one son, Gentry of Grand Junction; one daughter, Kristin Valles of Grand Junction; one brother, Stuart Dalpiaz of Grand Junction; and one sister, Audrey Bailey of Grand Junction. Victor Dalpiaz November 24, 1976 - June 19, 2018
Victor Dean Dalpiaz, age 41, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in Grand Junction, Colorado, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Victor was born November 24, 1976, to Terry and Stacey Dalpiaz in Price, Utah. He lived for many years in Grand Junction and graduated from Central High School in 1995. He married the "Chosen One" Erica Rubio on September 19, 1998, in Carlsbad, New Mexico and they made their home in Fruita, Colorado. Victor was an avid wood worker and Journeyman Carman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a coach, teacher and mentor for over 18 years. He volunteered his time to coaching basketball, softball, and baseball for his niece, daughter, son, and countless youth in our community. His other interests included hunting, fishing, camping, photography, and enjoying the company of his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Erica; daughter, Kristin Valles; son, Gentry Dalpiaz; father, Terry (Robin) Dalpiaz; mother, Stacey Dalpiaz (Joel); mother-in-law, Diana Castillo; father-in-law, Lorenzo Rubio; brother, Stuart (Nikki) Dalpiaz; sister, Audrey (Chris) Bailey; sister-in-law, Yvonne (Rick) Sanchez; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Theresa Dalpiaz, and John and Laura Goss; nephew, Eric Villa and cousin, Jeana Whitlock. Visitation will be on Friday June 22, 2018, from 6 - 7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1210 17 ½ Road in Fruita, Colorado. A Celebration of Life Mass will be on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart with graveside services to follow at the New Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita. Memorial contributions can be made to the Victor Dalpiaz Education fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.
