James Alfred Sanders, 85, Grand Junction, died July 31, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Services will be at a later date. He was an aerospace engineer. Survivors include one son, Jay, of Georgia; one daughter, Laura Mortensen of California; and one grandchild.

James A. Sanders January 7, 1933 - July 31, 2018
Jim died peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital from injuries sustained from a fall at the age of 85 years. His career at Lockheed Martin Corporation spanned 40 years at which time he retired to Grand Junction. He is survived by two children; a son-in-law; grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a long time resident of Grand Junction and made his mark as a Korean War Veteran, working for Kempton Air and co-founding the River City Singles. His passion was flying and he frequently took friends for a ride of their life. He treasured his many friendships and thought of them as family. If someone was in need, he would always step in to help. Jim was a treasured friend to the many that he knew and an all around nice guy. He will be dearly missed by all. There will be a Celebration of Life on October 10, 2018, at the Travel Lodge from 12 - 2:00 p.m. A lunch will be provided and drinks available. Please come to share stories of Jim.
