July 11, Joan Devereaux Meyer Schmidt peacefully went to be with the Lord, with her love of 50 years at her side.
Joan was preceded in death by her son Craig Schmidt; her mother, Beatrice Devereaux Meyer; and father, John Meyer.
Joan is survived by her husband, George Schmidt; her identical twin sister, Jeannette Schindler, with nieces Lisa (Matt Amoscato) and Dawn (Renee Golembusch); sister Marilyn (Scott Ashley) with nephew Matthew; and brother Lawrence Schule (Deborah) and nieces Brianna and Venessa Dorman; Joan’s children, stepson Steven Schmidt Ward, son Tyler Schmidt (Lisa), daughter Melissa Schmidt Johnson (Steve) and grandsons Zac, Grant, Caleb, Cade and Jakob, daughter Christine Schmidt Murray (Ronan) and granddaughters Erika Schmidt, Brogan and Bailey Murray, and son Erik Schmidt (Cora) and grandson Landen.
Please join the family in a celebration of life Aug. 2 at Calvary Chapel Vail Valley, Vail Christian High School Auditorium, in Edwards at 5 p.m. with a short reception to follow.
Mid-service, we welcome all to share Joanisms and memories. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted by the Shaw Cancer Center in Edwards, Calvary Chapel Vail Valley, and/or Unity of the Mountains in Avon.
