Florentine Patricia (Pat) Skura’s soul went to be with God on Friday. She lived 88 wonderful years. She joined her father, Anthony Skura, her mother, Catharine Kaznicki Skura, her sisters Nellie Skura Selva, Josephine Skura Komosinski, and brothers Edwin Skura and Anthony Skura, as well as her very beloved niece Patricia Komosinski Uberti. Pat was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on Nov. 14, 1922. Her early years were in the Wilkes-Barre area. She moved to New York as a young adult, where she worked three years in the Andrew Freedman Home in the Bronx until moving on to Star Electric in Newark, N.J. The remainder of her work career was with the New Jersey Bell Phone Company, a division of AT&T. She began her career as an operator and retired as a service representative after 39 years. Newark and Hillside, N.J., are where she lived most of her life. She was active in Sacred Heart of Jesus in Irvington, N.J., and Christ Our King Catholic churches. She also participated in activities at the Senior Center in Hillside and the Pioneers retirement organization. Pat spent her final five years in Eagle with her niece Marion and husband Don. She made many new friends and attended St. Mary’s Church, where she enjoyed seeing the children of parishioners begin their life’s journey. Good company, meals and events at the Golden Eagle Senior Center brightened her days.Pat was loved by many people, both relatives and friends. All who touched her life will miss her thoughtful handwritten notes, cards and sweet gifts. Her tasty pies will also be sorely missed.She is survived by many, many friends, nephew Tony Skura and his former wife Daphne Taylor and her husband H.W., nephew Tony Komosinski and his son Adam, niece Lori Komosinski Bayne and her daughter Samantha, niece Marion Selva Laughlin and her husband Don and their children Kenneth and Stephen.Burial will take place Wednesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hanover, N.J., preceded by mass at Christ Our King Catholic Church in Hillside. Viewing will be at Growney Funeral Home in Hillside, on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. There will also be a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Dec. 20 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eagle, followed by a reception at the Golden Eagle Senior Center in Eagle.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Clare of Assisi School, P.O.
