Steamboat Pilot and Today - January 3, 2019

Kevin C. Kolvereid – Casey – passed away in the early hours of December 15th, 2018, at home in Steamboat Springs, CO and surrounded by those he loved. Kevin was tenacious, driven, intelligent, and overwhelmingly compassionate.

Kevin was born on August 1st 1962, and adopted by Edward and Ruth (Bauma) Kolvereid of Washington, DC 8 weeks later, who raised him and his siblings in both Heidelberg, Germany, and Bethesda, MD.

He graduated 2nd in his class in the United States Army Special Forces, and served as a medic for over 9 years. Both during and after his service, he continued his medical education, graduating from Kettering College in 1988. He had a passion for helping people, as displayed in his 29-year career in orthopedics in Denver and Steamboat, and as a physician's assistant for the US Ski Team for over 10 years.

Kevin was a vivacious and passionate man, with an infectious smile and a welcoming heart. With a passion for music, skiing, traveling, cooking, martial arts, military expertise, and medical care, he was a mentor and teacher to many in both his professional field and hobbies. His generosity was a gift that touched many lives.

Kevin attacked his cancer with determination and perseverance. He fought every step of the way for the sake of the people he loved. He is survived by his wife Regina, his three children Kristian, Elise, and Jon, as well as his parents, Edward and Ruth, and his siblings Kristin Moulton and Kyle Kolvereid.

A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at the United Methodist Church followed by appetizers, then a family dinner. KC’s band, the Brian Smith Band, will be playing at The Press at 7:00 p.m. We would be honored to have your company. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kevin Kolvereid Family Fund at Wells Fargo Bank.
