Mrs. J.F. Sloss, of West Sopris creek, died last Sunday after a short illness from pneumonia. She came here with her family last November from St Clair County, Mo. and settled on her brother-in-law's ranch on West Sopris creek. Mrs. Sloss was born in 1861 in St. Clair county, Mo., and was married in 1880. Her ultimate end has cast a shadow over the entire neighborhood. The funeral services were held at the M.E.church in Basal on Tuesday, by Rev. Hollenback. At about 11:30am the funeral cortege arrived in Basalt and slowly wended its way to the church. It was composed of numerous wagons and sleighs. Internment occurred in the cemetery at Basalt. deceased leaves a husband and four children. Her husband is a brother of J.W. and S.P. Sloss. Peace to her ashes.
