Eagle County Pioneers Pass Away Recently
Two more of the early settlers of Eagle county who moved from here within the past few years, where called in death recently.
Maude Stratton Smith, one of the prominent women f he county for many years, died in her home in Los Angeles, Calif, October 24. Mrs Smith left the county for the coast a few years ago. Her husband, Frank Smith, a former commissioner of this county, died many years ago. Mrs. Smith is survived by her only son, Stratton Smith; a member of the California Polytechnic College at San Luis Obisbo.
David (Dave) Goodwin White passed away at the home of his daughter Mrs. Linn, at Arkansas City, Kansas, Oct 9. Dave came to Colorado in 1879 and Gilman in 1886. A prospector and miner at heart, he visited every boom mining camp in th United States, including Alaska. Besides his daughter, Mr. Goodwin is survived by a son, Glick of Richmond, California and Harry White, now of Gilman.
