Former Grand Junction resident Charles Everett Gardner II, 57, Lindale, Texas, died Sept. 23, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 4, at Martin Mortuary. Services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 5 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 Sipprelle Drive in Parachute. Graveside services to follow at the Battlement Mesa Cemetery. He was a cardiovascular sonographer. Survivors include his wife Rosario “Charo”; one son, Joseph Logan of Lindale; two daughters, Vanna Hyer of Highland Village, Texas, and Camille Cook of Springville, Texas; three brothers, Joseph of Grand Junction, Jonathan “Jon” of Golden and Jerome “Jerry” of South Carolina; two sisters, Carol Schneider of Battlement Mesa and Christine Hotchkiss of Grand Junction; and seven grandchildren.

Charles Everett Gardner II, formerly of Grand Junction, passed away September 23, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. He was 57. Charles was born on September 5, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Charles E. and Peggy Lorene (Davis) Gardner. He spent his childhood in Grand Junction and attended Central High School, where he held a cross country record for many years. Charles later attended Mesa College, and also studied at Burwin Institute in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the California College of Health and Science, and PCCTI Healthcare in Oakbrook, Illinois. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Health and Science. Charles went on to become a noninvasive cardiovascular echo sonographer and a certified respiratory therapist for the University of East Texas Health and Science in Tyler, Texas; and an enucleation technician for the Rocky Mountain Lyon’s Eye Bank in Denver. Charles married the love of his life, Rosario, "Charo", on February 13, 1985 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They lived in Grand Junction, Denver, and Westmont, Illinois, before moving to Lindale, Texas where they spent the last four years. Charles was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, and served a two year mission in Minneapolis, Minnesota in his earlier years. He was also a temple worker in the LDS temple in Chicago. Charles enjoyed collecting Broncos memorabilia and guns, working on his Corvette, hiking, fishing, and caring for animals in need. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson and dirt bikes. He played the didgeridoo and took bag pipe lessons. Charles was voted Most Technical Guy in the play Bus Stop, and was an extra in Stephen King’s 11/23/63. Charles is survived by his wife, Charo; son, Joseph Logan Gardner of Lindale, Texas; daughters, Vanna (Ryan) Hyer of Highland Village, Texas, and Camille Cook of Springville, Utah; brothers, Joseph "Joe" (Nancy) Gardner of Grand Junction; Jonathan "Jon" (Nancy Thomas) Gardner of Golden, and Jerome "Jerry" (Nancy) Gardner of South Carolina; twin sister, Carol (Weldon) Schneider of Battlement Mesa, and sister, Christine (Louis) Hotchkiss of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Phillip Jones and Craig Gardner. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 4, from 7 - 9:00 p.m. at Martin Mortuary. Funeral services will take place Friday, October 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 Sipprelle Drive in Parachute, with a committal service to follow at Battlement Mesa Cemetery. Charles was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
