Heart Attack Fatal to Hunter 1

S . A . STAMPS DIES WHILE DUCK HUNTING ON MILK CREEK-SECOND DEATH FROM SAME CAUSE SINCE FALL HUNTING SEASON OPENED . Another hunting fatality occurred in this vicinity last Saturday morning , when S . A . Stamps of Gilman dropped dead while hunting ducks ona pond on the former Roberts homestead on Milk creek five miles northwest of Wolcott . Mr . Stamps and a younger companion had gone hunting up there early in the morning , looking for ducks . They had had some shooting and had killed one duck . Around nine o clock in the forenoon Mr . Stamps complained of not feeling very well , apparently suffering from an acute attack of indigestion . Their car was paarked only a short distance below the lake and Stamp s companion suggested he would get it and take the former home . Stamps protested this was not neccessary , that he could walk to the car . However , his companion went for the car and returnd with it to find his companion lying on the ground unconscious , havin g been gone but a very few minutes . When he ] could not revive the stricken man , he went to the home of Walter Cowen , about a mile below . Mrs . Cowen returned with him , bringing first aid material and equipment , but they found Stamps beyond aid—dead . To heart failure , caused by accute indigestion is assigned the cause of death . Mr . Stamps and family have lived at Gilman for the past several years , going there from the eastern part of the state . He was born in Independence , Ark ., November 23 d , 1888 , being 51 years of age . He is survived by the widow and a son , S . A . Stamps , jr ., who graduated from the Red Cliff high school two years ago ; and a daughter , Mrs . Clifford W . Williams , of Colorado Springs . The body was cared for by the Andre Mortuary in Eagle , and shipped to Pueblo where funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon . Interment was to be made in Colorado Springs . __ 0 Gus Benson of Pando , Albin Anderson and Ira Murray of the Anderson Brothers saw mill near Tennessee Pass , and John Magnuson wete all early Monday morning callers at this offoce . They had each failed to get registered while the local board in Red Cliff precinct was in session and came down to correct that neglect before the county clerk in Eagle Mr . Magnuson owns the filling station on the highway opposite the saw mill , but at present is working in Leadville , being employed in a filling station there . Mr . Anderson stated that thev would soon close down the saw mill , as they have cut all of the timber on their present sale . O Mr . and Mrs . Howard G .
