Carol June Trussell November 6, 1934 - November 29, 2018
Carol, age 84, died on November 29, 2018, from pneumonia and heart failure. She was born November 6, 1934, and was one of Kenneth and Velma Calkins’ four children. Raised on a farm in Iowa, she treasured her memories of country life. Carol graduated from high school in Corning, Iowa and attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska. She met and fell in love with Charles Trussell, and they were married on April 10, 1954, in the country church where she was baptized and confirmed, Strand Lutheran. Carol worked in the office of an Omaha manufacturer until 1955. They had four children, Tony, Sue, Rob, and Kay. Charles’ work required frequent travel and moves. He affectionately called Carol the "executive housewife" because of her expanded role raising the children, taking care of friends, entertaining business clients, and renovating homes. Carol loved meeting new people and participating in church, community, and kids’ activities. As the kids went to college, she enjoyed PEO and work at a jewelry store as well as volunteering with the hospital auxiliary, homeless shelter, and CASA. Carol and Charles enjoyed their friends including time spent camping, playing bridge and golf. Carol is loved and missed by her family. She is survived by Charles, Grand Junction, CO; sons, Tony (Deanne) Kiester, MN, and Rob (Caitlin) Lakewood, CO; daughters, Sue, Bloomington, MN, and Kay (Paul), Athens, GA. She had eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. No services will be held at this time. A family service is planned at a later date. Carol requested that memorials go to the First Presbyterian Church, 3940 27 1/2 Road, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
